Responsible & Sustainable Travel

Travel with Purpose. Leave a Positive Footprint.

At DMC – Destination Management Consultants, we believe that travel should enrich the lives of our guests while making a positive contribution to the destinations, communities and natural environments that welcome them.

For us, responsible tourism is the pathway to sustainable tourism. It is about the choices we make every day — how we design our journeys, where our guests stay, who we work with, how we experience wildlife and nature, and how local communities benefit from tourism.

Protecting Wildlife & Nature

India is home to extraordinary wildlife and some of the world’s most remarkable natural landscapes. As specialists in wildlife and nature-based travel, we recognise our responsibility to help protect these fragile environments.

Our wildlife experiences are designed to be respectful and minimally intrusive. We encourage guests to observe wildlife responsibly, follow park regulations, maintain appropriate distances and respect the natural behaviour of animals. Wherever possible, we work with lodges, naturalists and conservation partners who share our commitment to protecting wildlife and its habitat.

Supporting Local Communities

We believe tourism is most meaningful when the people who live in and around the destinations also benefit from it.

We encourage the use of local guides, naturalists, drivers, locally owned services, artisans and community initiatives, helping tourism revenue remain within the destination and create meaningful livelihood opportunities.

Our journeys also encourage genuine interaction with local people, traditions and cultures — always with sensitivity, dignity and respect.

Choosing Responsible Partners

The hotels, lodges and suppliers we work with are an important part of our sustainability journey.

Wherever practical, we favour partners who demonstrate responsible practices such as reducing single-use plastics, conserving water and energy, managing waste responsibly, sourcing locally, employing people from neighbouring communities and supporting conservation or social initiatives.

We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing journey, and we actively encourage our partners to continually improve their environmental and social practices.

Travelling Lightly

We encourage our guests and teams to reduce their environmental footprint through simple but meaningful choices — carrying reusable water bottles, avoiding unnecessary single-use plastics, conserving water and energy, respecting wildlife and natural habitats, and leaving destinations as we found them.

We also believe that  thoughtfully designed journeys can create richer experiences with a lighter footprint, allowing travellers to connect more closely with the places and people they visit.

Respecting Culture & Heritage

India’s cultural diversity is one of its greatest treasures. We encourage our guests to approach local customs, religious traditions, communities and heritage with curiosity and respect.

Our aim is not simply to show India to our guests, but to help them understand and connect with it.

Our Commitment

Responsible and sustainable tourism is not a single initiative or certification — it is a continuing commitment.

We continually review the way we operate, the partners we choose and the experiences we offer, seeking practical ways to reduce negative impacts while increasing the positive contribution tourism can make to wildlife conservation, local communities and the preservation of India’s natural and cultural heritage.

At DMC, we Listen, Understand and Deliver — creating journeys that are not only incredible, magical and memorable for our guests, but also respectful of the people, wildlife and places that make those journeys possible.

Travel responsibly. Protect what you discover. Leave a positive legacy.
